Adopt a Game Area Program (AAGAP)

The Adopt-A-Game Area program is an exciting new blueprint for conservation, developed to accelerate grassland habitat creation and improvement on State Game Areas throughout southern Michigan. The program gives chapters, businesses, foundations, agencies, and individuals the opportunity to sponsor specific habitat improvements on the following State-owned properties:

? Adams State Game Area

? Allegan State Game Area

? Augusta Creek State Game Area

? Coldwater Lake State Park

? Cornish State Game Area

? Gratiot-Saginaw State Game Area

? Harsens Island State Game Area

? Lake Hudson State Recreation Area

? Maple River State Game Area

? Nayanquing Point State Game Area

? Pinconning State Game Area

? Rose Lake State Game Area

? Petersburg State Game Area

? Port Huron State Game Area

? Sharonville State Game Area

? Shiawassee State Game Area

? St. John’s Marsh State Game Area

? Thumb Mini-Game Areas

? Verona State Game Area

? Watkins Lake State Park

Sponsorships will provide nesting, breeding, foraging, and wintering habitat for an array of wildlife, including pheasants, turkeys, deer, rabbits, waterfowl, songbirds and pollinators. Sponsors will also receive recognition for their support for Michigan State Game Areas.

Ben Beaman has been hired to spearhead this program. Ben is a native Michigander, and lifelong hunter. He has a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming, where he focused on the economics of conservation in agricultural landscapes. Ben lives in Clinton, MI with his wife and two year-old son, and their five-year-old Black Lab and four-year-old English Setter.
